Get Ready, Phoenix: This Weekend Is Going To Be Mad Decent

By September 13, 2016EDM, Festival Reviews

2016 is shaping up to be an insane year for Arizona, EDM-wise. It seems as if each week there’s a new producer making their Phoenix debut at one of the many venues throughout the Valley. That momentum is continuing through the latter half of the year and the next upcoming event? Mad Decent Block Party.

Summer is here and so is #MDBP2016 ?

What started in 2008 as a small tour showcasing the artists of the Mad Decent label (created by producer Diplo in ‘05) has grown into a 13-city event this year with stops all throughout August and September. And lucky for us, Phoenix is one of just two locations to have #MDBP spread out over two days (the other location being Brooklyn last month).

Both Friday and Saturday have an incredibly chosen lineup. September 16th will feature the sounds of Brillz, Diplo, FKi 1st, Jackal, RL Grime, Snakehips, Tchami, and What So Not. September 17th eventgoers will get to check out producers Baauer, Dada Life, Flosstradamus, Grandtheft, Justin Martin, Le Youth, and Lil Dicky.

I was first hooked on the MDBP magic back in 2014 when I accidentally got dropped off on the edge of a western town and wandered into the event like a bunch of rave cowboys. I remember both Diplo and Flosstradamus were there that night as well and I’m thrilled they’ll be returning to the Grand Canyon state for another mad decent time. At one point I looked away from Floss’ performance and when I looked back, the legendary Waka Flocka Flame had taken the stage and graced us all with his presence. It was an unforgettable night and I can’t even begin to imagine what surprises are in store this year.

Both single day and weekend tickets are still available (but honestly I’m not sure how you can go just one day with a stellar lineup like this).

The festivities start at 5pm Friday evening out at Rawhide. Event parking will be $10 so make sure you grab some cash before you head over. And be sure to follow Mad Decent AZ on Twitter at @maddecentaz and tweet your excitement before then!

Grab your tickets here – and grab them fast before they’re gone!
