What do you get when you bring together performances from Knife Party, Excision, Snails, NGHTMRE, Ghastly, G Jones, and Wuki? Mix it with happy, out-going ravers and a dash of creepy October festivities and you get a rockin’ good time!

Insomniac Events’ Boo! Halloween Festival arrived in Arizona for the first time ever this year. In celebration of all things Samhain, notable EDM artists collaborated to bring the festive spirit of Halloween through music from 6:00PM-2:30AM.

Everywhere you looked people were dressed up in the most unique costumes. Throughout the night, the energy only got higher and more intense.

After cruising the crowd, it was obvious that the most anticipated artists of the night were Excision and Knife Party! And if you have heard these artists already, you know why. Their music drives the crowd and pumps up the energy to a level you would have to see to believe.

Arizona native Ghastly gave one of the best performances of the night, fueled by the energy of his hometown crowd. He’s traveled the world, working with some of the industry’s best producers, but David Lee Crow came on with a special kind of energy and vibe you could tell he saved just for Phoenix. It was an EDM spectacle unlike any other.

Desert Canvas members interviewed the attendees to get a feel for the mindset of the festival goers and learn about people’s stories. We asked questions that opened up their minds and allowed them to think deeply about their innermost passions!

“If you could describe yourself in a color, what would it be?”
Beth answered by saying she would be Turquoise. It’s the birthstone of her mother and also a reminder of her hometown in New Mexico.
Ryan said he would be the color of life: green.
Andrew believes he is a blend of two powerful colors within purple. His personality’s color is red and blue: both energetic and loving.

“If you could teach me anything in 5 minutes, what would it be?”
Jake responded by saying he would teach others how to love, because that’s what the world needs.
Lucy said she would teach young girls how to be a lady.
Kate said she would teach others how to shuffle! She followed up by dancing her shuffle and showing us right there.

Although many people come for the high energy atmosphere of music festivals, or to cheer on their favorite artists, we all have a story to tell. Deep down we all want to be heard. Desert Canvas helps people connect to their passions and give them an outlet to share with the world!

The night was a pumped up good time with DJs, costumes, good friends, cold drinks, and rich EDM culture. But our story doesn’t stop here.
